Beautiful Lake Bled, Slovenia

A very Happy New Year to everyone and I hope that 2013 has been a good year so far! As this is my first post of the year, a pretty post is in order. :)

My hubby and I love going on holidays and one of the things we look out for when we are tired of visiting cities are places with gorgeous scenery, one that will blow our socks off and Lake Bled did just that!
Lake Bled is a glacial lake in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia and is situated just next to the town Bled. It makes for a nice and relaxing holiday, walking around the lake, climbing the hills, taking in the very fresh air and of course eating the famous Traditional Sweet Cream Cake.

Here's an interesting tradition. There's a 99 step stairway that leads up to the church on the Island and traditionally it's considered good luck for the groom to carry his bride up the 99 steps on their wedding day before ringing the bell and making a wish inside the church.

So why not consider visiting Lake Bled on your next holiday? The scenery alone is well worth the trip!

Assisi, Italy

Sorry to be a little quiet. Been busy with a couple of things but I'll try to catch up after the Easter Holidays. :) In the meantime, here's a quick one of my trip to Italy before I fly off to Prague for the long weekend!

Assisi, a town in the Italian Umbria region, is well known as the birthplace of St Francis, who was the founder of the Franciscan religious order in the town. Half a day would be sufficient to explore this pretty town however, be sure to wear comfortable shoes as Assisi is located on a hill so there's lots of slopes to walk along. The view is well worth the effort of climbing the slopes though. ;)

Lake District - Derwentwater

Time seem to just fly by and it's Feb already! Where did Jan go? It just turned much colder over here but I guess we are considered quite lucky as it's been a pretty mild winter until now. Though a little too cold for comfort, Feb means that it's almost the end of winter and Spring will be here soon!! What does one do when the the weather gets warmer and the days longer? Go on holidays!! Woohoo! It's time to start planning! I should really visit places I've yet to step foot in but there are some that I would really love to visit again. One of which is Derwentwater in the Lake District. Derwentwater is the name of the Lake that's easily accessible from the towns of Keswick and Borrowdale.
It's surrounded by fells (mountains) of various difficulty and it can get quite crowded with hikers during the high season. When we were there, we conquered Catbells (451 meters) and Walla Crag (378 meters). Catbells was a little more difficult as hands were needed to make the climb, however, the views from the top was well worth the effort! Simply breathtaking!
Isn't it worth another trip? ;)
