Bleeding Hearts Flowers
It's summer now in the UK and yes, it feels like summer right now. For the uninitiated, summer in the UK can often be much cooler, wet and gloomy so when the sun is out, everyone's very happy! However, I prefer cooler weather even though I come from Singapore where it's always hot! haha
So Springtime has got to be my favourite season as it is cooler and I love it when the plants start to sprout again...the change of the landscape from being dull and gloomy to one of freshness and colour!!
I especially love spotting flowers I've never seen before and one of my absolute fave is the Bleeding Hearts. A very sad name I know but all it's other names like Venus's car, Lady in a bath and Dutchman's trousers still don't do this beautiful flower any justice.
I was very blessed to have found these in the garden of my old place as that was the 1st time I've seem such a beautiful little thing. Don't you agree that they are just so lovely??

They look like pretty hearts! Great photo.
ReplyDeleteOh yes these are really beautiful but I've never seen them before. Thanks for sharing. It is a sad name but kind of remember it because of the name too... I only take pictures of kids and food. I should pay more attention to see what beauty is around me!
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteOne of the first flowers I was introduced to as a young girl was the Bleeding Heart. She was an elderly woman and one day she took me on a stroll in her garden and told me the story of the Bleeding Heart and how it got its name. It has religious overtones so I won't retell it here but I'm sure it is available somewhere online. If not, Peachie, just let me know and I'll be happy to share.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for reminding me of that story. I haven't thought of it in too long.
P.S. I have a new gardening post going up for Friendship Day. If you get a chance, drop by tomorrow:)

ReplyDeleteJenelle, lina, Jeannie: hope you'll get to see some up close soon! Thanks for the compliments.
ReplyDeleteNami: So far, I've seen it here in the UK and a friend saw it in Sweden so they could possibly grow in the US as well as the climates kinda similar? Yes, I agree, there's beauty all around us if we look out for them but I think i miss out on a lot too. :)
louise: i will try to search for the story, thanks for letting me know about it. I'll be looking out for your post.
have a good weekend all!
