Lavender Dilly Dilly

Lavender has many uses. It can be a cooking ingredient, essential oil, potpourri and it has a lot of health benefits too. However, since I'm not the expert, I shall not elaborate too much into that.

I love the smell of lavender as it has a calming effect and it's great to wind down the day with the scent of lavender in the air!

There are loads of Lavender farms in the UK and I encourage you to visit one during the Lavender season especially during Aug and Sept when they are at their best! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself there as I have.

One of the farms I've visited on the Hitchin Lavender Farm and it was so amazing to see the endless fields of lavender! The smell is simply glorious!! I gotta admit that it actually made me a little drowsy as it usually does but with the excitement of running through the fields and trying to take as many pictures as possible, I was glad that I didn't just fall asleep amidst the lavender! haha Sad to say, my pictures don't do the fabulous scenery any justice though.

Entrance fee costs £4. They'll also pass everyone a plastic bag and a pair of scissors as you can cut as much lavender as you like to take home as a souvenir.

There's a cafe in their 17th century barn to rest your tired legs, have a cup of tea or a slice of home made cake. Various products and plants are also available for sale in their gift shop.

I shall leave you with a cute nursery rhyme, one that I only heard about when I came over to the UK. :) Enjoy!

Lavender Dilly Dilly
Who told you so, dilly dilly,
Who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly dilly,
That told me so

Call up your friends, dilly, dilly
Set them to work
Some to the plough, dilly dilly,
Some to the fork

Some to the hay, dilly dilly,
Some to thresh corn
Whilst you and I, dilly dilly,
Keep ourselves warm

Lavender's blue, dilly dilly,
Lavender's green
When you are king, dilly dilly,
I shall be queen

Who told you so, dilly dilly,
Who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly dilly,
That told me so.
