Keukenhof Park, Lisse (Holland)

I've been wanting to visit Keukenhof since I first moved over to the UK 5 years ago but I got distracted by the number of holiday options and somehow, this beautiful destination just stayed on the ever growing list of places to visit. 

However, friends have been visiting Keukenhof and I have of course enjoyed looking at their photos until now, when I've finally made a trip to see the spectacular variety of tulips and some other flowers on display for myself!  

The magnitude of colours just blows one away! There are more than 7 million flowers in Keukenhof park itself and there's even more in the surrounding areas of Lisse so yes, if you visit during the tulip season of around March till May, you'll definitely be able to fully enjoy the glorious fields of tulips!

The park is also pretty easy to get to. We stayed in one of the hotels near the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport where there's a shuttle bus service that runs every day between the airport and the park. On weekdays, there'll be 4 buses/hour and 8 buses per hour on weekends.

The airport is also a short 20mins train ride into the city of Amsterdam so an airport hotel makes for a good base, in my opinion. 

My dear readers, I really hope you'll have the chance to experience this for yourselves but in the meantime, I hope you'll enjoy my photos though they really don't do the tulips any justice since it impossible to capture its magnificence and splendour!

Bluebells in an enchanted forest...

It's officially Fall in the UK, the air is crisp and cool, the days seem to get shorter really quickly and all I can think of is spring as I'm sure looking forward to see flowers blooming once again!

One of my favourite sights are the fields of bluebells that appear around April and May.

I feel as though I'm walking through an enchanted forest, waiting for my Prince Charming to ride by on his white horse and whisk me off into the sunset but no, the hubby was also busy taking photos so that didn't happen. :P However, it's nice to just dream about it right?

When walking through fields of bluebells, be sure to keep a lookout(or keep your noses wide open) for wild garlic as they are known to grow nearby. I haven't yet encountered any but i look forward to do so next year!

Flowers, Flowers and more flowers!

Flowers! Who doesn't love them? They can lift your spirits up! A natural pick me up!  They brighten up a room or a photo! They make someone you love really happy!! They make a good surprise for someone!! and much much more!!

I take the chance to capture pictures of flowers whenever the opportunity arises and love unusual ones just like the Bleeding Hearts in one of my previous posts! In fact, i get really excited whenever I see something new!! :)
